Ganesh Chaturthi - Celebration of God of Wisdom!

Festivals are integral part of Indian culture. The colours, the fervour and the feeling of community demonstrate the often repeated dictum of "Unity in Diversity" of this great country. Larger festivals of the country is a community celebration. People of all walks - irrespective religious identity - join these events. These are also occasions which bring out the "Indianness" of the country.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one such festival which bring everyone together. Started as a festival to mobilise Indians during India's freedom movement by Lokamanya Balagangadhar Tilak, it has grown bigger and bigger. It is now so big in cities of Bombay, Pune and Bangalore, the corporates lend their support to larger organisations. What Durga Puja is for Calcutta and Navratri for Ahmedabad, it is Ganesh Chaturthi for Bombay, Pune and Bangalore.

Lord Ganesha blessed our home yesterday and he will remain for next three days before visarjan on Thursday.

In the meantime, take a look at the following interesting photo features on Ganesh Chaturthi in Bombay.

This is the time to be in Bombay to get immersed in the festivities. Plan a trip in next one week. If you are on business travel, make sure you take a day off to do what Bengalis do during Durga Puja - Pandal Hopping.

You won't regret it. You will be rewarded and blessed!
